Northern 6200 of Canadian National (CN)
In 1997, Marie-Anne and me are visited Canadian Provinces of Quebec and Ontario and, of course, some interesting railway places...
In
the parc of the Canada Science and Technology Musem in Ottawa, we
found the wonderfull 242 or Northen type n° 6200 steam
locomotive. The machine is 28,9 m. long and weighed 302,8 t, in
working order. This steam locomotive was constructed by the Montreal Locomotive
Works for the Canadian National Railways in June 1942. It operated in eastern
Canada for both passenger and freight train service. By 1944, the CN was
operating 203 locomotives of this type. By 1960 steam locomotives were withdraw
from regular service and replaced by diesel-electric locomotives. The 6200 was
being tranferred to the museum in June 1967. (Informations: Canada Science
