AJECTA's Consolidation 140-C-213 

 

French Consolidation locomotive 140 C 231 was constructed in 1916 in glasgow by the North British Locomotive Co.  French State Company was operating 340 locomotive of this type.

 

 

This machine was used from 1917 with the number 140 - 231, but in 1938 SNCF give it the number 3-140 C 231 in St-Mariens Station (Gironde). Germans use fran September 1940. After WW2 the machine was operating in Western part of France mainly from Sotteville Station.

 

 

The 140 C 231 is now in the collection of a youths association for maintenance and convervation of old trains (AJECTA). 

 

This locomotive weighed 68 t. and is 11,75 m. long. Maximum speed is  80 km/h.  and the power is 1350 ch.  Wheels are 0,86 and 1,45 m. (Informations: AJECTA).

 

End of years 1980, the 140 C 231 was the star of the Steam Festival  in Marienbourg, where I take all pictures.
