ON6GB and Ham Radio, a 40 years old love story…

The prefix ON means Belgium and the letters 6GB are really personnal. I'm the only one hamradio in the world with this call. Officially, I'm Oscar November Six Golf Bravo, but my friends call me sometimes Grosse Bertha or Grand Bavard or General Bonaparte or Good Boy…
I'm one of the founder of Radio Amateurs Club of Gembloux-Chastre (ON6GX). I'm also the club president since a long time. Because this I'm honorary member of the national association.
Our monthly meetings are each 3d Friday's at 20h, in Le Chalet route de Saint-Géry in Chastre. The picture show one of those meeting, when N5GO, from San Antonio (Texas), visited us. For further information about our club, visit now our Webb pages at http://www.on6gx.be
My HF radio equipment is a TS-870. I use before an old TX Kenwood TS-820 (100 watts only) and the antenna is a 3 bands-3 elements rotary beam. On VHF bands, I'm using a Kenwood TR-9000, a dual bands vertical antenna and a 9 elements beam. On UHF bands, my transceiver is a TM-446, mainly for digital transmissions.

On the picture, I'm standing up on left with my old friend Jån FORSBERG SM2DYS - a Swedish Ham. I met him in 1980, during my North Cape expedition (10.000 km in 2 CV Citroën through Scandinavia and Lapland…). On the picture we are playing with club station ON6GX. Jån die unfortunately in 1998, but he is still in my heart.
